Description
Pyrolusite dendrites formed about 180 million years ago. They are not fossils, they are “pseudo-fossils” or “false fossils” and are a natural mineralogical processes. Dendrite comes from the Greek “Dendron,” meaning tree. These unique patterns form when water rich in Manganese and Iron seeps into fissures in the layers of limestone leaving behind deposits of brown-to-black Manganese and Iron that form these incredible patterns.
